Tony Briscoe's commercial career began in the pop industry composing and producing top 10 hit music for artists such as Craig David, Beverley Knight and Artful Dodger. This gave rise to songs such as "Re-Rewind" and "Shoulda Woulda Coulda".
Subsequently, Tony become one of the key music producers for Def Soul UK, a subsidiary of Def Jam and Universal Records. His talents were noticed and one of the top 20 hits that he composed and produced was selected for the soundtrack of the Universal motion picture "Bridget Jones Diary". This opened the doors to a career in film music composition.
In 2006 Tony set up his own professional recording studio. Being Bristol-based has sustained Tony's film composition career but also opened the doors into sound design where he is actively engaged in various drama and documentary films in the South West. 2008 was a busy year for Tony Briscoe! Amongst many other projects, he composed the soundtrack music for "Under The Skin" part of "Life in Cold Blood" - The BBC Wildlife Series, presented by David Attenborough. He was also one of the composers who scored the soundtrack for the sci-fi comedy/drama series "Starhyke" Starring Claudia Christian (Babylon 5) and Jeremy Bulloch (Star Wars). The DVD box set was released in November 2009.
In 2009 Tony signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV. January 2010 saw the launch of a new label "One In A Billion Records" which features a number of exciting up and coming artists that Tony has been collaborating with.
Jimi Can is one of the exciting new crop of singer/songwriters to emerge in the Southwest of England in recent years. His music features an evocative mixture of Spanish, African, Caribbean and Rock styles. He is seen in the above video link, recording one of his songs called "Dora Maar" produced by Tony Briscoe. Aaron Soul is a recording artist based in the UK, who first came to prominence when he signed a deal with Def Soul (UK) back in 2001.
